A Call For Wordsmiths

Our writers collective is a portal with its mouth in the Pacific Northwest and its anus in Europe. Sometimes during its bowel movements, ideas come out whole. Sometimes they come out transformed. We would prefer to be a creature with an anus on either end, just to be fair, but we have found this to be biologically impossible.

If you would like to enjoy this creature, throw some writing through its toothy gaping mouth, splash it down into its gut. Submit an original piece of writing on the subject of PORTALS. 

There will be three winners. First place gets $30. Second and third place get our most recent zines ‘Minds Eye/AI’ and ‘Hijack’. All three winners will be featured on the new Online Contest page of our website: When the Mind Wanders. 

We love to feature the voices of fringe speakers, those on the outskirts, troubadours, untold stories from different corners of the world, general weirdness, gonzo journalism, and speculative fiction. 

Instructions:

Submissions will be open from February 10 to March 10, 2025

• All forms of writing are welcome: fiction, essay, personal essay, poetry, flowery prose. 

• Word count is 3,000 maximum

• Please submit double-spaced

• One submission per person!
